Today I did something I never though I would do. I spent several hours in an antique store (more evidence of my ongoing identity crisis). It was completely accidental. Just walking by and decided to peek inside. Talk about sensory overload...three floors of "stuff". My favorite things were the colorful bowls and cups (no time to hit the jewelry counter and the clothing section was pitiful). I had my eye on some cute orange mugs, but I'd like to know when second-hand items became so expensive? $4.50 is a little ridiculous for a single cup. Let's make it 25 cents and then we'll talk. Even still.. it was a great way to waste a Saturday afternoon and get some visual creativity going.

{Too bad the light was so crappy. I would've taken more photos. I'll post the few I took later this week.}

Favorite Necklace

This week's photos

this one was inspired by my sister, Shauna. "Green girl"

...considering this one for my new profile image

Ahhh, pearls.

Family Picture

That family picture I have been planning for us is about to be put on long-term hold. "Why" you ask? Because I'm full on going bald. That's right. Bald!! A post pregnancy side-effect I was totally unaware of. Never heard of it...until I checked my " What to expect.." book. There it is right on page 424. Aaaack!! This is pretty crappy cuz I didn't have much to lose in the first place. I've been trying to think of solutions. How about never leaving the house? No, not practical. Become that crazy hat lady. Nope. Learn to master the fine art of "the comb-over". Yes, I think that's the one.

The Creative Life

Over the past few months I have been totally inspired to reconnect with my own creativity. I was so worried bout becoming a stay-at-home mom. I just knew I wold lose myself, but I'm actually experiencing one of the most creative and happy times of my life. My little girl is pleasant and content 90% of our day together. So, I have all the time in the world to dream, craft, sew and create. I'm exploring new outlets, decorating the house. I'm sewing again and photographing regularly after a very long hiatus. I have no idea what it is like for other 1st time moms, but I personally can't complain. This is awesome! (Please no comments about how it will all come to an end "as soon as.....". I know. Until then, let me just celebrate this little gift).

I've been inspired by so many things. Mostly all the gorgeous blogs out there with some unbelievably talented people. OK. Sometimes they make me feel like crap too. But mostly they inspire me. I've been inspired by my sister who lives nearby. Who has totally different tastes, but slightly rubbing off. Hmm...what else? The change of seasons. Hallelujah! Other moms, magazines, color, all of it. I just can't get enough. So thank heavens for the gift of creativity whatever form it takes. It makes for one very happy mom.

In Deep

This week I'm deeply smitten with the little one. Can she get any cuter? I don't think so. I'm not a huge fan of babies (true confession) despite spending many, many years babysitting as a middleschooler and before. I mean I like babies, but I don't pine over them or for them. So to feel deeply endeared to her is a bit of a relief. Forget her nightly meltdowns an hour before bed. Who cares! It's all forgotten the moment she lets out a giggle (a recent development), coo, or smile (my favorite). They melt me every time. She is definitely lovable. Can't wait to meet more of her personality.

Reunited...and it feels so good!

OK, I'm going to get geeky and I so don't care. But these guys are getting back together and my heart soars. You may not realize the extent of my obsession in the pre-teen days. Let's just say all four of my bedroom walls were covered floor to ceiling with posters from BOP magazine (remember that one?) And by the way Joey Joe is my favorite. Looks as though he's cuter than ever.
