Oh Happy Day!

I bought one of these chairs (thank you, thank you loving, supportive, perfect husband who also understood the amazing price was a must act). It arrived today and I'm feaking out (in a good way). Is it wrong to love something so much? I don't care. It's mine and I will love it forever.

Just read this little snippet from the website:

"How many gliders have you seen in friend’s living rooms? An Eames RAR is something that can be with your family for years to come, perfectly suited to any room of your home. Unlike other unsightly gliders, this rocker will find a useful place in your home long after those 3:00am feedings are a thing of the past. This is one of those products that perfectly demonstrates how great design can evolve with the ever-changing needs of your family".

Aww. {Big sigh} My sentiments exactly. I think I have a tear in my eye.

P.S. not my photo. not my daughter. But....MY chair. Woohoo!

L's room has been needing a little something. It changes all the time...little tweaks here and there. But this is it! I'll be making some more butterflies to flutter up and around her ceiling. So perfect I can hardly stand it.

More Christmas at our house

I still haven't finished that other needlepoint (don't judge) or decided what photo to put in empty frame (upper right). These things take time, you know.

hope to get a new addition to the kitchen table for Christmas....or some bar stools for my bday (Feb). Oh, I have such high hopes for our space. Been drooling over roman shades these days also.

she thinks she is going to get to play with the digital camera. yeah right!

having some morning chill time by the tree

origami wreath

$5 antlers from pottery barn clearance last year.

Jeff says this pillow reminds him of Liza Minelli.......huh???

The Tree

More pics later, but here's this year's tree.

I'll give you one guess why there is no decor on the bottom. Next year I've got big plans and it all involves non-lethal ornaments. A couple of weeks ago L broke a glass ball in her mouth. I was still picking shards from her diaper the following morning. Scary! l want to make some of these and yo-yo garland. And try to recreate some felt mittens that I remember having on our childhood tree. My sister and I are planning Christmas in July crafting and I'll be making soft things for a family friendly tree. Every year I do something a little different. Still exploring the perfect tree for us. Yet to be found. It needs more, more, more. Jeff likes it sparse, but I want it to be dripping with Christmas.

P.S. Send your Christmas cards...I decided to make them "ornaments" this year.

a new favorite tradition is visiting my Bro-in-law's work when it is filled to the max with these gorgeous blooms

Christmas Stills: Day 17

One of my favorite things about Christmas was that we always got new holiday dresses. Made by my mom. And My sister and I always matched. We are only two years apart and when we were little we liked to pretend we were twins. My mom brought a bunch of my old dresses on her last trip. I cut up a velvet-y Christmas one to try and make something for Lauren (maybe next year).

Fake Stache = giggles

P makes the cutest old man.

I don't know what makes a mustache so funny, but my sister and I laughed to the point of tears. Don't worry, my mustache pic is coming soon. I'm not too proud.

The Good Report

1. Spent some lovely time with my sister and her crippled husband (knee surgery) on a Sunday night.
2. Chocolate covered oreos....yes!
3. L is really walking now. So cool to watch her.
4. Relief Society Lesson about how great it is to be living. Mmmm Hmmm. Always a good reminder.
5. Sent off Christmas cards (whittling away at that to-do list)
6. Received the first of many Christmas cards in the mail. Oh how I love them!
7. Doing whatever I want while L sleeps.
8. Caught Faith Hill's Christmas special on GAC. WOW!! The girl can sing. Even Little Drummer Boy (a song I loathe) gave me chills.
9. Oh Macey's, how I love you! This week I was greeted at the door with a bag of hershey kisses as I shopped their glorious sale items. And Baby L got a bag of graham crackers that she held in her death grip the entire time. I'm totally loyal to this grocery store.
10. L's birthday.
11. Looking at Christmas lights on her birthday night.
12. Snow, snow and more snow. Love it!

Christmas Stills: Day 13

No stills today. I'm running out of ideas and not caring. How about some Christmas confessions:

1. Least favorite Christmas songs: "Little Drummer Boy" and that annoying chipmunk one. Ugh!

2. My faves:
Silent Night, Enya
Ava Maria
O Holy Night
Last Christmas, George Michael
All I want for Christmas, Mariah Carey
Anything Bing Crosby
Anything Harry Connick Jr.

3. We always got practical gifts growing up. I hated it. Socks, deodorant, toothbrush, your own box of cereal, an orange. I always wanted clothes. And yet I find myself wanting to fill our own stockings with those very items. Stockings are just tricky for me. I never can figure out what to put in there. Leave a comment if you've got it figured out.

4. I can't remember when I found out the truth about Santa.

5. I always save the photos we get and put them in an album that I pull out each Christmas.

6. Last year I didn't have a single present to open and I totally did not care. I know, it's surprising to me too. It's not a sob story....mostly because of new baby and I didn't want Jeff to leave me just to shop for some dumb presents.

7. I always buy my Christmas stuff at the end of each season when it's 75% off or more.

8. I've never peeked at my presents. Have you?

I can always count on Target for the best wrapping paper.

Christmas Stills: Day 10

Not sure this has anything to do with Christmas, but I forgot I had taken it. I like it.

Christmas Stills: Day 9

One year during our Christmas Eve festivities my parents sent someone on the roof to prance around up there (a.k.a Santa). And I fell for it big time. And some other adult claimed they passed his reindeer on their way over. I couldn't believe it! It was a very exciting night and one of my all time favorite memories. I still have no idea who played Santa for us (older sibs have any ideas?), but I sat on his lap and told him what I wanted. I plan on recruiting someone to do the same for L when she is older.

Christmas Stills: Day 8

Had a little malfunction with the scans for this week. No worry. I'm off to pick up non-corrupt files today. and will play catch up with the Christmas Stills.....tomorrow. C-ya then.

p.s. I think this week we should add some visual texture to my Christmas stills. Just you wait.

Christmas Stills: Day 7

The Good Report

Hmmm....what was lovely? I'm having to dig deep for this week. L suddenly forgot how to sleep through the night and I am losing my mind. But at the very least I can say I'm happy about the following:

1. The sun was shining a few times
2. Husband baby proofed the cupboards. Definitely worth celebrating
3. Found the perfect lamp base (Urban Outfitters) for my night stand. For $10.
4. Hmm....we are healthy. uh.....

That's all I've got. Must.....sleep.....soon.

Christmas Stills: Day 5

Ok, not an exciting photograph, but RED is may favorite color and Christmas has lots of it.

December 04, 2008

Christmas Stills: Day 4

My favorite thing about Christmas.....letters and photos from friends & family!

December 02, 2008

Christmas Stills: Day 2

My mom sent these to me some time after being married. The ornaments of my childhood. I just can't bring myself to get rid of them (even before I got sentimental). They might be the ugliest decorations on the planet...yet, I love them. That little guy on the end (far right) squeeze the sides and his mouth would open to reveal a hershey kiss. Never lasted long in our house.

Guess which one is my husband

I love old pics.

I'm feeling generous. So I'm giving away one of my black aprons on our Creative Chicks site. Enter to win here

Christmas Stills: Day 1

My mom used to buy a tin of ribbon candy every year. Remember that stuff? I used to dig through it until I found my favorite colors. I wish I could remember what they taste like. Now I don't waste my time with anything, but chocolate.
