The Good Report

1. Jeff's oxygen masked arrived for his sleep apnea. Let's hope he feels rested soon because our life is in serious shambles.
2. Our insurance pays for most. Seriously I am grateful every day for great health insurance.
3. My sis gave L a little scooter she loves to ride in the driveway.
4. All my peeps will be arrive this week for an early start to the reunion.
5. L's dance moves. So adorable.
6. L got the pukes again BUT luckily it only lasted one day this time (instead of nine)
7. No one else got the pukes.
8. Also, L never got pink eye from the cousins. I can't believe it.
9. Chance spotting of $1.50 wrapping paper at local scrapbook store. It's printed with flag banners. I've never seen anything so cute.
10. Gradually restocking pantry before baby comes.
11. Hubs stayed home with L and I went to a movie by myself. My favorite thing! I saw "The Proposal". It was hilarious.
12. We have unbelievably small amounts of garbage since curbside recycling came to town.
13. Conquered a fear....taking L to the pool by myself. I have a major fear of her drowning when I'm not looking.
14. Jeffy got home early on Friday night. A miracle.

Summer Flashback

I still love these images from a pool visit during the summer of 2006 {click to enlarge}. We're headed there tonight.

Changes....

I need a change. I already revamped the hair so I'm thinking HOUSE decor. Maybe paint the front door red. Or hang some new art or get around to deciding on which family photos to enlarge. New pillows maybe. Anyhoo, it needs something around here. Until I figure out what it is I've settled on joining a "favorite things" swap. See details here. I already know a few things I'll be sending.

Breakfast

apple jacks, anyone? .....anyone?

A peony

My sister moved to a new house. One that doesn't flood the basement every time it rains. But I'm going to miss that backyard. And I will no longer get freebies like this. Waaaaaa!

p.s. I'm not smitten with my own photos very often, but these.......I just looooove!

I'm embracing summer

I'm not much of a summer girl, but for now the weather rocks! And since I'm not sweating to the point of madness I've decided to embrace June. My current warm weather fave: bringing Jeff lunch at work.

We have been meeting at the park and I can't get enough. L usually nibbles here and there (I feed her before we go so she can thoroughly enjoy the play time) and Jeff & I catch up. This particular time I got the low down on his A.M. doctor appointments. Oxygen mask will be arriving soon for his sleep apnea. And a few more dentist appointments to take care of three cavities. Oy! But since we are basking in the shade of a very large tree all I can think about is how happy I am we have insurance.

Pregnancy craving

I can't get enough fresh fruit. This cantalope was perfect I tell you. Mmmmmm!

p.s. I think I might try posting bigger photos for a bit. what do you think?

June 15, 2009

Let it be known....

Our life is not perfect.

But....I will never write about strained family relationships, humiliating moments, financial stresses, annoying neighbors, life disappointments, our useless and obnoxious HOA, or health problems here. Even though we have or had them. I use this blog to focus on what's lovely so I'm not totally overwhelmed by all the rest. I need this blog to focus on the lovely.

Where is this coming from you might wonder? Some of the daily blogs I like to browse. I can't take their perfectness anymore. I think I want to punch their perfectness in the face.

The Good Report {Summerfest Edition}

This weekend my two favorites and I spent the evening at Summerfest. Beginning with a parade (more on that later), then some deep fried oreos, glow sticks for the little one, and finishing with fireworks.

Thank goodness Orem knows how to do parades because the first year my sister moved here we decided to go to Provo's 4th of July parade. And we were horrified by it's lameness. How could the parades we grew up on in small town, NE be a million times better? I'll tell you why......

Reasons why PROVO's 4th of July parade needs help (my letter to city pending)
1. Way too many local businesses driving a car with a lame sign. We don't care. You are boring. And fancy cars aren't floats.
2. No one throws candy. Unbelievable.
3. Several minutes pass in between each float, marching band, lame business car, etc. Provo has some serious organizational issues.
4. Last way too long. (see #3)
5. Starts way too early in the morning.
6. It's hotter than hot. Even that early in the morning.
7. And again....no one throws candy.

Why the OREM parade is better
1. It starts at 7 PM. (that's right....an evening parade)
2. Lots of freebies/candy. For example: t-shirts, water bottles, balloons, balls, coupons for more free stuff at local businesses, A local grocery store gave out real sunflowers, apples and oranges. And did I mention all the candy? Lots of it. The missionaries threw ties in to the crowd. Hilarious. More candy. And more t-shirts.
3. Local businesses are required to have something more interesting to look at than lame sign and fancy car for entry (that would be a float).

Good job, Orem city! I will now be attending Summerfest every year.

Love it

I just bought this for my night stand. Because it's orange and because it's something I'm constantly working on.

I'm a huge fan of this shop.

My favorite chicken

Remind anyone of a certain someone?

Behind the Scenes

want to know what was really going on during the chicken shoot?

L and S were freaking out the ENTIRE time. Ugh!

June 07, 2009

The Good Report

1. Much needed haircut tomorrow. I'm so excited.
2. A family motorcycle ride. It was so fun! L was strapped in to the baby Bjorn.
3. Homemade fish tacos were dee-lish. It's all about the proper condiments.
4. Nursery leader told Jeff she would only bring L to us if she cried to the point of throwing up. She's hard core. And I like it.

and now for "Total bummer" news: L broke my glasses. I sliced off a major portion of my thumb making dinner. I can't breathe (allergies). And for some reason I'm having trouble sleeping. (these good reports are getting harder to write. I think I write the the same stuff all the time).

and check out the comments from the giveaway post for everyone else's really great news.

Memorial Day

We spent the day outside exploring a local canyon. I'm not usually a nature girl. Not. At. All. But the weather was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! And even I couldn't resist the outdoors.

L was Spazzy McGee all day (from staying up late and no nap for two days). Think laugh, cry, laugh, cry, laugh, cry. I've been there too.

June 02, 2009

Anniversary dinner

Usually we go to the restaurant where we had out first date, but I wasn't feeling it (pregnancy craving). I was dying for an old favorite. Pesto Raviolli. Oh yes!

maybe I should call this post "Ode to Coke" because I love Coke. too much.

We brought L on our anniversary dinner even though Em agreed to take her. Jeff and I still hate the thought of leaving her, but we both really need to get over that because toddlers are not good for dates. And she distracts me from my photo taking (hence, no photo of that pesto raviolli). And so my photo story is incomplete.

Must. use. babysitter.
