Behold....

THE ZIG ZAG QUILT

My first quilt. It's full of mistakes and I love every single part of it. Really. It makes me so happy and every time I look at it or use I think to myself: I love this quilt.

The finished quilt is 54.5" x 76.25"
I used this tutorial

Detail of fabric I used for the back. I purposely matched to my wall color.

Just because she's cute.

And there you have total satisfaction. True love.

I don't think I'm on my way to becoming a habitual quilter, but I've got a couple more designs (is that even quilting lingo? I have no idea) I'm dying to create. We'll see.

For more detailed info visit creative chicks tomorrow. And I'll also post a few different photos.

  6. It's lovely!
You've got a great eye for color. Did you always have it, or do you work at it?
(I emailed you before about canning beans)

And did you ever can some beans?

  12. That is totally amazing! I'm in awe because I grew up with a quilting mother and I know how much it takes to produce something like that. As far as the fabric choices....perfect! I love it all. Nice job Leslie!

  13. It's so beautiful! I see all these lovely quilts that inspire me, yet I don't have the courage to start one.

If you don't mind me asking, how long, in mother years, did it take you to finish? What kind of money should I expect to spend on making a quilt?

  14. I started in January and finished the week before Easter, but it would have gone MUCH faster if I had my own cutting tools. I just worked on it whenever I could get to Emily's house.

Wow, money. I didn't keep track. I wish I would have. I'll have to sit down and think about it. All of the blues were from my stash or Emily's stash so I'm not sure how to even figure that one out. The back fabric was probably $7 or $8. Binding was a couple dollars. Batting was probably $15. Then you have all the white. Hmmm....not sure this is helping. :)

  15. I love it! I've got a ton of fabric saved in my stash just for quilts but I don't have the guts to actually do it. I love the zig zag so I might have to buckle down and actually quilt- yours is lovely!
